I like to take it easy in the morning, so I got out quite late that day and went on a 4 hour hike through some incredible Lanzarote landscapes.
I knew the time is going to be tight if I wanted to get back to the car before dark. But I also wanted to explore, take it easy and enjoy the place as much as possible, so I stayed so long that I ended up walking in the dark second half of the path on my way back.
Similar situations happen to me often and sometimes I reproach myself for not getting out earlier instead. But then when I think of it, it also leads me to see so many beautiful sunsets, magical evening light and enjoy the incredible tranquility of the night in wild places which I otherwise wouldn’t have.
