The sea had a very unique and appeasing effect on me ever since I can remember. From swimming to sailing or just watching the big blue surface, it has a way of making you feel at home – of being in the right place at the right time. It also reminds us of how small we are, and teaches us respect, humility and thankfulness to be alive – here and now.
In 2014, I embarked as crew on a 57ft catamaran – a Lagoon 570, which became my home for the next three months. I was hooked right away. The big blue, the wind, the waves, watching sunsets and the sky covered with stars, discovering new places, people and cultures (this is the romantic side of sailing – I’ll keep the rest for another occasion), all while breathing with nature and learning how to adapt to it, respect it and communicate with it.
Since then, I sailed about 5000 miles, acquired a few maritime qualifications (Slovenian Boat Leader’s Licence of Competence, Licence of Competence for VHF GMDSS Station and STCW Basic Safety Training & Security Awareness certifications) and worked on different boats as crew and photographer.
The experience acquired at sea gives me a unique understanding of seamanship and sailing which allows me to deliver an excellent photographic service, wether it’s photographing sailing regattas or luxury motor yachts.
Fun facts: I love polishing inox and hate the taste of sea food.
Below is a selection of work which combines my passion for both, nautical world and photography.
